# Newbie Guide

## 1 Download & Installation

Login to the official website [www.get3d.ai](https://www.get3d.ai/), go to the download page to download the software executable program Get3D Mapper.exe, as well as the demo data. Under Windows operating system, double-click the program to load it and install it automatically. After the installation is completed, a shortcut with the software icon will be displayed on the Windows desktop, and you can open the software by double-clicking it.

## 2 License Acquisition

After entering the Get3D Mapper software interface for the first time, you need to obtain a license to use the software for modeling.

There are two types of licenses: trial and official.&#x20;

* Trial license: After registering an account, you will automatically get a trial license, which can be activated online or offline and is valid for one month from the activation date.  Trial license supports unlimited project creation within 30 days, and a single project can import 5,000 images.

After version 7.0.9, both trial and official licenses are activated online or offline, and there is no separate activation interface for trial license.

* Official license: An official license is obtained through purchase and can be subscribed monthly or annually. Select the available license to activate, the activated license will show the expiry time, all the functions can be used during the period, and there's no limit for image count.

Both trial and official licenses can be activated online or offline.

### 2.1 Online Activation

#### Get3D Account

Login Get3D account, you can get all the historical license information about Get3D Mapper software under that account. The available license information includes the license ID, the activation status of the ID, the valid of the license period, and the expiration date. Select available license to activate.

1. Log in Get3D account.

2. Refresh license list.&#x20;
3. Select one license to be activated.&#x20;
4. click **Activate** button to activate it.

### 2.2 Offline Activation

#### License Document Mode

The other way to activate the official license applies when the PC is offline.

Firstly, **export** the machine code, and then in the personal account center on the web side, input the machine code to get the license file. Import the **license file** to the software and click **Activate** to complete the binding of machine code and license.

1. **Copy** or **Export** machine code.

2. Open the website [license center](https://www.get3d.ai/personal-center/license).

3. Select one license and click **Generate.**

4. **Upload** machine code and **download** license file.

5. Import license file and click **Activate** button.

Activated license information can be viewed in License Center.

### 2.3 License Information Management

For users who have already purchased the official version of the license, you can go to the official website personal center to view the complete license information and purchase history orders.

<mark style="color:purple;background-color:purple;">**Note: Once the license activated, it can't be transferred to other computer. The license is bound to machine.**</mark>

## 3 Create Project & Open Project

When use the software for the first time, click **New Project** to generate a project folder containing .m3d project files. When you open the project later, you can double click the .m3d file directly.

## 4 Import Image

In the **Data Prepare** page where you can import data, click **Add Photos** to open the **Import Photo Pose Setting** window.

After importing, the interface before positioning is as follows:

## 5 Photo Positioning

There are two ways to position imported images.

### 5.1 Pose File Positioning

The first way of positioning is based on the pose file. Select the photo group, right click and choose pose file positioning, import pose file.

For the photos after importing the pose file, select any group and the pose setting screen will appear below.

Select the correct Spatial Reference System to correspond each column of data to its coordinate system units.

Then click **Apply to Photo Group**.

Select the group to correspond to and click **OK**.

If successful, the following window appears.

Click **OK** to complete the photo import and positioning.

### 5.2 EXIF positioning

Select the photo group that **Exif Information** exist, right-click and select **Read Exif** to give photos position.

If successful, Photos with Pose value will change to green. The interface after successful positioning is as follows:

Click "OK" finish importing and positioning photos.

## 6 Job Queue & Engine Setting

When the photo positioning is finished, click Apply in the bottom right corner to save the block.

Click **Setting** on the top menu bar to open the Job and Engine Setting window.

Set the **job queue directory** for project and click **Apply**.

Set the **job queue directory** for engine and set **cache directory**, click **Apply**.

&#x20;After applying the paths, click **Start Local Engine** to open the Engine screen.

Job queue directory setup is optional. For first time users, you can directly **Start Local Engine**.

The engine status is **Waiting** when no jobs have been submitted. Engine specific information can be viewed in the Engine window.

## 7 Aerial Triangulation

Once the Engine Setting is complete, you can click **Submit AT**. If you do not fill in the sensor parameters and focal length information, a prompt box will pop up, select Fill to fill in the camera information.

Fill in the correct sensor parameters and focal length information according to the camera model.

Note there is a difference between the focal length of the lower view lens and the focal length of the side view lens, please fill in correctly.

Once the camera information is filled in, continue back to the **General** view and click **Submit AT** to open the AT Settings window, click **Submit**.

## 8 Reconstruction

### 8.1 3DGS Reconstruction &#x20;

For blocks that have completed Aerial Triangulation calculations, right-click block and select **New 3DGS Reconstruction** or click the **New 3DGS Reconstruction** in the right bottom side to enter the Reconstruction screen.

In the Reconstruction Settings screen, you can perform operations such as selecting Coordinate System and setting the width of each modeling’s tile.

By clicking **Submit Production**, you can select the type of production you want to output. Get3D Mapper supports many types of production output.

Click on **Select Tiles** to selectively model parts of the entire interior of the area.

After all the settings are done, you can click **OK** to submit the production and enter the reconstruction calculation.

You can view the product and open it in **Get3D Viewer** with one click after merging the root node.

### 8.2 3D Reconstruction &#x20;

For blocks that have completed Aerial Triangulation calculations, right-click block and select **New 3D Reconstruction** or click the **New 3D Reconstruction** in the right bottom side to enter the Reconstruction screen.

In the Reconstruction Settings screen, you can perform operations such as selecting Coordinate System and setting the width of each modeling’s tile.

By clicking **Submit Production**, you can select the type of production you want to output. Get3D Mapper supports many types of production output.

Click on **Select Tiles** to selectively model parts of the entire interior of the area.

After all the settings are done, you can click **OK** to submit the production and enter the reconstruction calculation.

After modeling, you can click **3D View** to view the modeling effect within the Mapper software interface.

You can also choose to view the product and link **Get3D Viewer** software with one click to view the model.

### 8.3 2D Reconstruction

Right-click block and select **New 2D Reconstruction** or click the **New 2D Reconstruction** in the right bottom side to enter the Reconstruction screen.

By clicking **Submit Production**, you can select the type of 2D production you want to output. DOM and DSM product are supported in 2D reconstruction. Set the resolution for DOM/DSM.

If the Merge DOM and Merge DSM options are selected, an additional "MergeDomDsm" folder will be generated in the output, containing the merged DOM and DSM results.

After successful tile reconstruction, users can view 2D products with one click in Get3D Viewer (v4.1.0 or later) when both DOM and DSM outputs are available.
